Wailea pros ranked top two golf teachers in Hawaii
11th August, 2005
Wailea, Maui -- Two Wailea Golf
Club teaching pros were voted by their peers as the best golf
teachers in Hawaii, according to the August 2005 issue of Golf
Digest.
Eddie Lee and Tim Mitchell, both
Class A PGA instructors at the Wailea Golf Club, were ranked first
and second in Hawaii, respectively, in Golf Digest's newest list of
the top golf teachers in Hawaii. Rankings for teachers in every
state were determined based upon responses to ballots distributed
to more than 1,000 teaching professionals who were asked to review
their peers on a grading scale.
"I was taken completely by
surprise (at being named number two)," said Mitchell. "I knew Eddie
would be up there. I've worked with him for years and he's very
highly regarded, very devoted to teaching."
"The fact that this honor is
based on evaluations by other PGA instructors is a huge honor for
both of us," Lee added.
In 2004, Lee and Mitchell
collaborated on, and launched, the Wailea Golf Academy, a
personalized instruction program based at Wailea Golf Club's
12-acre outdoor training facility. The two pros direct and teach a
variety of lessons programs including half-day and full-day golf
schools, video lessons and private instruction. Other Wailea
instructors at the academy have also received national and state
recognition for their work.
"This is a great testament to
both Eddie and Tim, and the tremendous work they've done with our
teaching programs at the Wailea Golf Club," said Anne Takabuki,
president and chief operating officer of Wailea Golf LLC. "They are
two of the reasons behind Wailea's reputation as one of the best
golf resorts in the world."
Lee was also named Assistant
Professional of the Year in 1999 by the Aloha Section
PGA.
