Wong’s Course record will inspire the youth at Arbutus Ridge
29th June, 2010
In the first round of the BC Women’s Amateur Championship at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, Christine Wong from the Quilchena Golf & Country Club shot an incredible round of 68, resulting in a new ladies course record.
On June 29th at 9:45am Christine Wong teed off the first hole of the BC Women’s Amateur Championship knowing that she stood a good chance of claiming the title. She had already qualified for the US Women’s Open Championship which begins next week. Little did she know that by the end of her round she would have 5 birdies, 12 pars and 1 bogey to shoot the new women’s course record at the challenging and scenic Arbutus Ridge Golf Club.
“What a spectacular round of golf”, says Arbutus Ridge General Manager Jason Lowe. “It is refreshing to see that the game of golf is alive and well in young women across the province. For a young lady of 18 to hold our course record only helps our initiatives to grow the game of golf at Arbutus Ridge,” Lowe continued. >> View tournament photos
