Development Application and Reconfiguration of the 18th hole at The Quail Course at The Okanagan Golf Club
2nd April, 2019
The Okanagan Golf Club, through its parent company the Burrard Group, announces the reconfiguration of the 18th hole of The Quail Course, pending the approval of a proposed land development project.
The Quail’s 18th hole would be reconfigured into a memorable yet challenging par-3, maintaining the iconic finishing shot over the water. The green will be constructed to create a receptive surface for incoming tee shots while providing improved visibility and aesthetics from the tee box. Golf course architect Ted Locke from Ted Locke Golf Course Architecture has been retained to complete the redesign to ensure integrity to the golfer experience is maintained, and the course will receive updated yardage and slope ratings from Golf Canada.
The golf course is not anticipating any changes to the current layout in 2019, and this season will expect to see business as usual on The Quail.
The first reading of the application that included an OCP amendment and rezoning application was heard at the March 18th Council meeting. The Public Hearing is scheduled for April 9th at City Hall.
If/when the project receives approval, the golf course will be working closely with the Kelowna-based development management company, Davara, to ensure minimal disruption to the golf season.
For the Quail Ridge community and the city of Kelowna, this project is an exciting announcement and considered a reflection of a healthy economy. At the completion of the project, the community will welcome the potential new homeowners, who will be fortunate to enjoy some of the most beautiful golf course and golf hole views in the Okanagan Valley.
