GolfBC Announces Donation to the Community Food Banks During COVID-19 Crisis

1st May, 2020
The GolfBC Group is pleased to announce it is making a commitment to donate $1 from every round of golf during the month of May to the local Food Bank within the communities of its five golf facilities in British Columbia.

One dollar from every paid green fee and Member round at Nicklaus North (Whistler), Gallagher’s Canyon and The Okanagan Golf Club (Kelowna), Mayfair Lakes (Richmond) and Olympic View (Victoria) collected during the month of May will be distributed by GolfBC to the local Food Banks.

“Giving back to the community through charitable initiatives has always been at the core of our company. This global crisis is impacting communities around the world, and GolfBC wants to help those in need. While we don’t know what the future holds for the tourism/recreation/hospitality industry, we are thankful for the ability to resume partial operation of our business which allows us an opportunity to help support organizations that are helping others,” said Andy Hedley, VP of Golf Operations.

Now more than ever we must remember to take care of ourselves and those around us, and to stay healthy and optimistic as we all look forward to brighter days ahead.

At Wailea Golf Club on Maui...
A soft reopening of the Wailea Golf Club on May 3rd netted more than $4,000 for the Maui Food Bank, and gave over 125 golfers a chance to experience what swinging through Wailea's fairways is like under new safety measures implemented in response to the coronavirus pandemic. "We're very grateful to our public officials, our customers and community, and thrilled to be able to welcome back our customers and employees," said Anne Takabuki, president, Wailea Golf. "Per our new safety protocols, we had limited the number of tee times for our soft reopening fundraiser, and they sold out quickly. We thank everyone for their support of the Maui Food Bank."
